Lake Oswego, Gresham and Wilsonville students win scholarships related to construction

LAKE OSWEGO-Clackamas County residents, three were selected by Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund and Advanced American construction, Inc. of Portland to receive scholarships.

Katherine britsch, Christopher duty, Nicholas Stroud and 10 other students from Oregon and Washington 67 applicants were chosen because they best demonstrated academic excellence and extra-curricular in pursuit of careers in construction and construction-related fields. "

Stroud, a resident, Lake Oswego won his second scholarship of $ 5000 in two years. The junior from Oregon State University is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. His scholarship is sponsored by Oregon Iron Works, Inc. of Oregon City.

"We are happy to be part of this great program honoring the great representatives of the construction industry, past and present," said President Corey Yraguen in a statement.

Britsch, Wilsonville received $ 2000. She is a junior from Oregon State University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in construction engineering management.

Duty of Molalla received $ 2000. Law, who also won a $ 2500 Scholarship last year, is a freshman at Oregon State University for a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

They will be honored, along with other recipients, in the 12TH annual Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Award Dinner and silent auction, April 22 at the Governor Hotel in Portland.

Oregon fellows also include Jesse Graham de Keizer, ryann Nolan Yamhill, Travis Pederson of Gresham, Jason Powell of Corvallis, Ben Tompkins than Roseburg and Lori vollmer of Astoria.

Washington recipients include Chad Drake East Wenatchee, Mitchell Harper from Spokane, Amanda petermann of Kennewick and Daniel Shin, a student at Washington State University who lives in Kapolei, Hawaii.

Originally, the Scholarship Fund was formed in honor of Forrest l. Schweiger, who died at age 26 in a construction accident. Forrest was an employee of Advanced American diving Service, Inc. and the son of company co-founder, Konrad l. Schweiger.

The Fund now also commemorates Konrad, who died in April 2002. The scholarships are funded through financial contributions from customers, suppliers, employees and friends of the company.

Starting today, the Fund has 144, scholarships ranging from $ 1000 to $ 5000 each and a total of $ 347.000.
